Adrián Fernández, born on April 20, 1963, in Mexico City, is a renowned Mexican racing driver and team owner with a significant presence in the IndyCar Series. He began his motorsport career in Mexico, securing the Mexican Formula 3 championship in 1991. Fernández then moved to the United States to compete in the Indy Lights series, where he finished third in the championship. In 1993, Fernández made his debut in the CART IndyCar World Series, initially driving for Galles Racing. He achieved his first victory in 1996 at the Toronto street circuit while racing for Tasman Motorsports. Over his career, he secured a total of 11 wins in IndyCar competitions. His most successful season was in 2000, where he finished as the runner-up in the championship, narrowly missing the title to Gil de Ferran. In 2001, Fernández co-founded Fernández Racing, transitioning into a driver-owner role. The team competed in both the CART and IndyCar Series, achieving notable success, including multiple race victories. Beyond open-wheel racing, Fernández also competed in sports car events, notably winning the LMP2 class in the 2009 American Le Mans Series. Fernández's contributions to motorsport have been instrumental in promoting the sport in Mexico and inspiring a new generation of drivers.
