Chris Brown

Born: 1970-10-12

Chris Brown was an American professional surfer. He won the juniors of the World Amateur Championships in 1988. In his rookie year, in 1988, he finished 100th in the world, 101 in 1989, and 154 in 1990. In 1990, Brown appeared in Kelly Slater in Black and White. In 1993, Brown returned to competition finishing 23rd on the Championship Tour, slipping to 40th in 1994 and 42nd in 1995. He then retired to work as a professional fisherman. On December 19, 1994, on his very first time chasing the big waves at Mavericks in Half Moon Bay, Brown was a photographed witness to Jay Moriarty's famous wipeout that made the May 1995 cover of Surfer magazine.
