Gianni Canova

Born: 1954-02-16

Gianni Canova is one of Italy's most important and famous film critics. He's known for creating and directing film magazines like "Duel" and "Duellanti". He wrote cinema essays for a number of journals like Rolling Stone, Vogue, Segnocinema, Corriere della Sera, La Voce, Il Sole 24 Ore. He worked in television on MTV, Telepiù, Netsystem, My-TV and he's a TV host for Sky Cinema. Meanwhile he's a professor of cinema at IULM University both in the bachelor's degrees and the master's degrees, since 2018 he's also the dean of the university. In the past he taught cinema at "Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia" and Università Bocconi. He's also part of the council of MiBACT (italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities) and from 2002 to 2014 he was the curator of several multi-medial exhibitions, mostly at the "Triennale di Milano".
