Hammy Dimaria

Hammy Dimaria, born August 16, 1972 in Marseille, is a Franco-Algerian author, humorist and actor. He grew up in a family of Algerian origin in the southern districts of Marseille where he began a career as a French boxer interrupted by a combat accident during training. Passionate about writing and poetry, he launched and hosted a show mixing humor and culture on a Marseille radio station where listeners nicknamed him "The Gentleman". In 1998 he left for Paris where he created and hosted the show "Un Monde Perfect", on France Maghreb radio, mixing humor and current affairs. He then launched into stand-up with his first show “Où Est-Ce Qu’on Signe?” that he plays on various open stages in Paris such as the Théâtre du Trévise, the comedian Bun Hay Mean will offer him the first part of his show at the Moloko. Hammy plays his first show “Ou Est Ce Qu’on Signe?” in several Parisian venues including the Trévise theater, the Théâtre de Dix Heures, at Jamel Debbouze's Comedy Club where he joined the Debjam troupe, and will be in the television show Jamel Comedy Club in May 2017, broadcast on Canal +. He co-wrote Alban Ivanov's first show "Alban Et Les Autres" (which would become the show "Élément Perturbateur"). Other collaborations with JCC artists followed, notably the duo Younes and Bambi in their show “L’Arabe et La Juif”. It will also feature comedian Rajdi El Subliminal. In 2009, he hosted a humorous section in the show “Le Matin de Cauet” on Virgin Radio. In the cinema, he alternates between comedies and dramatic series. In 2009, he wrote three short films with director Benoit Lecomte: Une Journe De Maire, Réservoir Boxe and Caractère VIP. In 2009, he founded the Court Métrage Politique festival in La Courneuve (France). The poster for the first edition featuring the mayor of La Courneuve, Gilles Poux posing as a mafioso, will contribute to the media buzz and the success of the festival, with numerous press articles in national newspapers. In 2014, Hammy co-wrote and starred in the series "2 min Avant Le Ftour". In 2019, he returned to the stage with a new show “Restons Gentleman” at the Théâtre de Dix Heures. He also plays in the series “Vaillantes” which has several million views on YouTube. In 2020 he played Amine, a former thug and father in the drama series “Le Carré”. In 2022, he played the role of Nazare, an Armenian in the thriller series “Or Noir”, broadcast on the W9 channel. In 2022, he adapted “Restons Gentleman” into English and performed in Los Angeles on the legendary stages of the Laugh Factory, the Flappers Comedy Club and the Comedy Store. He is currently writing his first feature film which combines humor and social issues. He is preparing an expanded version of his show “Restons Gentleman”, whose tour of French theaters was interrupted by the COVID episode.
