Jaione Camborda

Jaione Camborda (3 March 1983; San Sebastián) is a Spain filmmaker. After completing her studies at the The Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) and the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF), she moved to Galicia where she founded the production company Esnatu Zinema and has created a renowned body of work as director of pieces such as Proba de axilidade [Agility], Nimbos, Lilit and Rapa das bestas [Wild Mane Crop]. In 2019 she scripted and directed the feature film Arima. Besides its screening at San Sebastian Film Festival she was deserving of the Award for Best Direction in the New Waves section at the Seville European Film Festival and for Best Film in the Escáner section at the Márgenes Film Festival. Jaione has also participated as scriptwriter on the feature films Os fenómenos and Ons, directed by Alfonso Zarauza, and has worked as art director on several feature films. It has also been selected to participate in different laboratories and residencies such as the TIFF Filmmaker Lab at the Toronto International Film Festival, in the development program La Incubadora – The Screen at ECAM, Ikusmira Berriak at the San Sebastian Film Festival, and has also been beneficiary of the TIFF Canada Goose Scholarship. He is currently preparing the shooting of his second feature film O Corno do Centeo [The Rye Horn], a co-production of Esnatu Cinema with Miramemira and Elástica Films.
