Jim Rakete
Jim Rakete, born in Berlin in 1951, is a German photographer, photojournalist, filmmaker, author and producer. He is best known for his portrait photographs, mostly in black and white. Rakete photographed numerous personalities from the German and international music and film scene as well as from the world of politics. From 1977 to 1987, Rakete ran a photo agency in Berlin. During this time, he not only photographed the covers of many New German Wave musicians, but also worked as a manager. Among the best-known artists and bands that Rakete looked after were Nina Hagen, Nena, Spliff, Interzone, Sternhagel, Morgenrot and Die Ärzte. After many years of living between Los Angeles and Hamburg, Rakete returned to Berlin in 2001, where he has lived ever since.
