Manuel Elías López Monroy

Born: 1956-11-11

Ex director (2019-2023) and actual professor at the National School of Cinematographic Arts of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Filmmaker. Master of Visual Arts and Bachelor of Graphic Communication from the National School of Plastic Arts (now the Faculty of Arts and Design). A teacher with over 30 years of experience. Graduate of the University Center for Cinematographic Studies, with specialization at the School of Social Communications of the Catholic University of Milan, Italy, and specialization in filmmaking at the Experimental Cinematography Center in Rome, Italy, under the guidance of Sergio Leone. He obtained third place in the First National Feature Film Script Contest organized by IMCINE with his script "Navegantes del Río Churubusco." His short film "Complesso da camera" was presented at the Venice International Film Festival, and his film "El centro del laberinto" was nominated for the Ariel Awards. He is responsible for the PAPIME projects "Implementation of a Center for the Production of Interactive Teaching Material in Digital Media to support academic activities and promotion at ENAP" and "Construction of Cultural Imaginaries and Spatial Representation in Artistic Manifestations linked to 19th century Mexico." Currently, he is a PhD candidate in Art History at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, UNAM.
