Sofia Amato
Producer and festival consultant graduated in the master's degree course in Writings and productions entertainment and media at La Sapienza University of Rome with a thesis followed by professors Damiano Garofalo and Valerio Coladonato on the circulation and international reception of the last serial and cinematographic works of the two most successful Italian directors abroad, Luca Guadagnino and Paolo Sorrentino. Previously she also graduated from La Sapienza in the three-year degree course in Performing Arts and Sciences with a thesis followed by Professor Giulia Fanara on the relationship between monstrosity and genre in the cinema of French director Julia Ducournau. At the same time as the three-year degree course, in addition to the interest in gender studies related to cinema, she developed a strong interest related to festival dynamics, the relationship between juries and awards that then led her to cover the position of festival selector for different production. In 2022, she also attended the training course held in Sapienza relating to sustainability sciences which led her to have a strong interest in the recent audiovisual developments related to green and sustainability on sets. In June 2023, she took part in the 59th Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema in Pesaro as a juror in the young jury of the festival, greatly expanding her knowledge of the film festival scene. Since 2023 she has been collaborating with Indian director Prataya Saha on his projects. She currently works as a producer and cultivates the international working aspect by taking care of the promotion aimed at the relationship with the awards and film festivals of different products born in the international arena.
