This tv show is situated in the early years of the Republic of China. Fan Jian'an, an auxiliary police officer, aiming to secure a permanent post, teams up with Xiaolangtou, a street idler, to cook up a false case. Little do they know that they unexpectedly get involved in a series of serial homicides, including the murder of the old police chief. Under the investigation of the police, not only does Fan Jian'an have no hope of promotion, but the suspicion that they (Fan Jian'an and Xiaolangtou) are involved in the murders grows stronger. The successive homicides completely disrupt the peace of Paizi Ridge. After going through numerous hardships through thick and thin, the two finally solve the mystery of the serial homicides and arrest the real culprit.
